Dear fellow Rotarian,

As a result of my article on the District website see
http://www.rotary1260.org.uk/content/view/2395/1/ there can't be many
Rotarians in this District that are not aware of Wolverton and Stony
Stratford's ongoing support for the education of rural Zulu children. Many
clubs have in the past made donations towards projects. Hitchin Tilehouse,
Winslow, Harpenden Village Clubs made a huge difference to a rural community
who needed a school when their old hut collapsed and 4 classrooms at
Ntabankulu were built in 2007. It catered for 163 primary children in 2008
but sadly there was no room for the 11 and 12 year olds. They are not old
enough to join the High School right next door so they drift away and are
mostly lost to the education system. I learned today that 278 kids have
enrolled this year, that's 70 to a classroom!

The Eshowe Rotary club is on the case and they have money for two classrooms
but desperately need £7,000 for a third. Unfortunately the Matching Grant
scheme excludes the building of classrooms. All construction work employs
local labour wherever possible and the projects are managed by a Rotarian
Chartered Surveyor. This truly is Rotary International at work. Wolverton
and Stony Stratford has £1000 to start a fund. If your Club has unallocated
funds and would wish to help meet the need and make a dream real, please do
contact me, John Moss, johnmoss5 at yahoo.co.uk or telephone 01908 670678. I'm
always willing to visit any club and show video of the situation in these
rural areas.
Yours in Rotary
John Moss, International Chairman, Wolverton and Stony Stratford Rotary.
