Dear Governor Leslie ,

 

Your successor has just returned from the International Assembly in San
Diego, full of enthusiasm for President-elect John Kerry's programs.  And,
of these, safe water and sanitation rank high in priority.
 
WASRAG (Water & Sanitation Rotarian Action Group) stands ready to help him
and all the clubs in your district to achieve their goals.
 
As part of that support we are holding the annual WASRAG Rotary Water Summit
in Birmingham, on June 19th, immediately prior to the International
Convention.
 
Please send the message to all your clubs.  If they want to get off to a
running start on next year's initiatives, come to Birmingham. The cost is
modest - only $100. And you do not have to register for the Convention if
cost is an issue.
 
At this conference you will hear from world leaders on the challenge and
opportunity for Rotary service.  You will hear panelists discuss the factors
which are key to sustainable projects: appropriate technology, financing,
empowering the local community, needs assessment, gaining support from other
clubs/districts.  You will also have the opportunity, in discussion groups,
to share your ideas and seek answers to your questions.
 
In the next few weeks we will be contacting many of the club presidents
(unless we hear from you with contrary instructions) with more details on
the agenda and a link to the enrollment website.  In the meantime we want to
alert you to this seminal event on June 19th.  Details of last year's Summit
can be seen on the website www.wasrag.org
