Dear 'international' friends in D1260

Creating an overseas contact data base

It is clear than many Club members have or recently had good and reliable contacts with Rotarians overseas.

In some instances this may have been borne through business or social link in various localities. In other instances contacts arose out of project engagement.

It has been suggested that we as a District Committee could usefully harness those links for the wider benefit of all Members.

If therefore you, or any member of your Club enjoy good relations with Rotarians overseas you may wish to share that with all. If so please ... please do complete the short record sheet attached for this purpose.

Project awareness, promotion and support

At last nights excellent half-year rally we had new project presentations from Watford and Ampthill RC's that are worthy of wider consideration. We also heard of other embrionic ideas that could develop if given 'air-time'.

It is also clear that Clubs, not just in District 1260 but around the Country are doing great things in the same countries, even similar locations but they are not necesaarily aware of the other's engagement. Malawi and Mali are two examples that come to mind.

Again, in order to facilitate information exchange for Clubs, you may wish to complete the word-based project notification sheet that is available on the District 1260 web site - For Rotarians - Documents - International page or direct link http://www.rotary1260.org.uk/component/option,com_docman/task,cat_view/gid,71/Itemid,208/ Some 172 hits have been made on that page since it was launched in July, but so far no forms have been received.

DGN Amanda (Watkin) is undertaking a similar but wider analysis of all projects that Clubs are engaged in. In the interest of joined up Rotary we are of course liaising and sharing intelligence that Clubs are willing to provide.

Best wishes to all from the D1260 ISC Committee
Stephen
