I have received a request from Iain Young for support for the relief of the
recent Pakistan earthquake.     ShelterBox and others need urgent support.
If you are able to provide help please do.  There is no district appeal as
such but it will be helpful if the committee were to know if clubs are able
to provide support, how much and to whom.   Please let me know

Dear All

 

I'm sure that the recent earthquake in Pakistan is not news to you, although
it has received little publicity in the media, almost as if it was a very
minor event.   However this earthquake has had far reaching effects for the
peoples of the Balochistan Province of Pakistan.   They are receiving little
or no international assistance except what is shown in the official report
of the earthquake and contained in the attachment.   However ShelterBox are
already operating on the ground in the earthquake area, and delivering the
first 200 boxes.  Many more boxes are urgently required, as thousands of
people are now homeless, following  this devastating earthquake. The people
of the Ziarat district cannot re-build their homes until the Spring, as
their homes are made of mud - with homes completely destroyed, an estimated
60,000 people face winter outdoors in sub-zero conditions.    ShelterBox ask
for your urgent support to provide many more boxes to the victims of this
disaster.   Equally we are expecting that requests will be made to Aquabox -
Water-Survival Box - Life Box - Literacy Box and Trade Aid Box in the coming
days and weeks.   Please support your Box Projects to allow them to stand
ready with sufficient stocks to adequately cope with any demand.
