Subject: Wheelchairs for Uganda

Dear Rotarians

I have now had information about what has happened to the wheelchairs.
The Wheelchair Foundation has been dealing with two huge shipments - one to
South Africa (which has now arrived) and the other to Uganda. The Ugandan
shipment consisting of 19 containers and over 5000 wheelchairs will arrive
in the next few days. It will take between 6 months to a year to distribute
them. They are being managed through the local Rotary Clubs in Uganda and
to supervise distribution and ensure than corruption is kept to an absolute
minimum a lawyer has been employed to deal with all aspects.

If anyone in Uganda needs a wheelchair or you know of people who might need
them for clinics etc, then all they have to do is to get in touch with their
nearest Rotary Club in Uganda and to apply for them and the club will do
its best to meet demand.

Best wishes
